Take A Study

Recently, it has come to light that Brown Pelicans are being found dead on Topsail Beach. PAWS is interested in being a part of a study that would alert them to any unusual increases in the number of dead birds found on beaches. This program is a coordinated effort to obtain data on beached birds and to deposit the data into a web-based program.

Any birds found alive, but in poor condition, would provide excellent information because they would not have any scavenging on them that may mask a cause of death. Possumwood Acres is in DIRE need of transport volunteers - if you are willing to transport any of these birds, please call the Sanctuary at 910-326-6432.
