Toni O'Neil


As Director, Toni O'Neil, provides wildlife education programs for local residents or school children using non-releasable raptors and animal ambassadors. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and founded Possumwood Acres Wildlife Sanctuary in 2003. Toni is a regular speaker at the annual Wildlife Rehabilitators of North Carolina (WRNC) Symposium every January and serves on the Board of Directors for WRNC as well as an instructor for local community colleges.

Kelsey Gaylor

Kelsey Gaylor a local wildlife rehabilitator has found her second home with Possumwood Acres. Being a devoted animal lover her whole life she knew her future would be in the animal field. Struggling between the decisions of what field to go in and being a woman of faith she believes she was led to become part of the sanctuary. After completeing over 340 hours in her Internship she was hired on as a Wildlife Technician. She dedicates her personal time to continue the rescues and care for all animals.

Nicole Walker

Nicole Walker attended nursing school at Fayetteville Tech and is a certified histology technician for both humans and animals and is currently pursuing a degree in Wildlife and Fisheries through Oregon State University. She has worked closely with human and animal disciplines of pathology preparing tissues to be cut for slides and stain in order for a pathologist to be able to read microscopically for companies such as Bio-Vet, UNC Hospitals, LabCorp, and Roche Biomedical. Nicole and her daughters, Elizabeth and Kinsey love their work at Possumwood Acres and encourage others to volunteer and experience the rehabilitation efforts on behalf of wildlife.
